Saudi League club Dammam Cooperation officially announced that Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard will be the first team coach

This is Gerrard’s new challenge after coaching Scottish champions Glasgow Rangers for three years.

Gerrard expressed his confidence in the future of Dammam’s collaboration and hopes to lead the team to achieve good results in the Saudi League and Asian competitions.

Gerrard is a Liverpool club legend who has played for the Reds for 17 seasons, making a total of 710 appearances, scoring 186 goals, and assisting 92 times. He helped Liverpool win the Champions League, the Europa League, the FA Cup, the League cup and other championships. He is a landmark figure in English football. In 2015, Gerrard left Liverpool and joined the LA Galaxy team of MLS, ending his career.

In 2018, Gerrard began his coaching career by taking over Scotland’s Glasgow Rangers, breaking Celtic’s monopoly and leading them to win the Scottish Premier League championship last season, setting an unbeaten record of 55 games. Gerrard’s coaching ability has been recognized and praised by the industry, and has also attracted the attention of many teams.

Dammam Collaboration Team is a strong team in Saudi football, having won the Saudi League championship four times, the most recent of which was in 2019. The team is currently ranked fourth in the Saudi League, with an 11 point gap from the top.

Gerrard stated in an interview that he has high expectations for the Dammam team, believing that the team has excellent players and management, a solid foundation and potential. He said: “I am very happy to be a member of the Dammam Cooperation Team, which is a very attractive project. I am excited about the Association football culture and atmosphere here, and I hope to bring happiness and honor to the fans. I know there are strong competitors here, but I believe we have the ability to succeed in the Saudi League and the Asian arena.”

Gerrard will officially start his work in Dammam Cooperation Team next week. He will lead the team to participate in the 18th round of the Saudi League match against Al Fatih.
